In my last post, I discussed some ways in which poetry and music are alike. In the course of my discussion, I referenced Leonard Bernstein’s Norton Lectures. Today I merely wish to follow up on that reference, by providing you with a video of one of those lectures. It is in all nearly 3 hours long, but if that seems like an unreasonable demand on your time, listen for about half an hour. Begin at the 1:00:00 and end your listening, if you’re still inclined to stop, at the 1:36:00 mark. You will find Bernstein probing things that link music and poetry together.
Thanks for this great post! The Bernstein Norton lectures are wonderful. Your posts are always interesting and educational. Keep up the good work!
Thank you John. I’m very encouraged by your interest in my posts. Thank you for so frequently reading them.
